The high specific surface area of this product (> 25m²/g) opens up to it applications in the field of polymer reinforcement (composites) and control of rheology/viscosity (in adhesives, for example).
Ultra-fine barium-sulfate-based systems are also used for nucleation of crystalline thermoplastics. The product's chemical inertness, insensitivity to temperature, high transparency and good dispersibility permit control of the speed and degree of crystallization.
Mechanical and optical product properties, and also process parameters such as cooling times, can thus be precisely adjusted. In addition, nano-fine barium sulfate absorbs X-ray energy.
